Therapy Services

Individual therapy

I often work best with older teens and adults who are curious about the "why" behind some of their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and patterns. I believe it's important to have an understanding of the past events and experiences that have shaped your life today. I'll also help you discover how you can begin to live more in alignment with who you want to be. I have experience working with anxiety, panic, ADHD/neurodivergence, depression, life transitions, acute & complex trauma, as well as with people desiring to heal from family wounds, relational patterns & distress, addiction, and religious & spiritual harm. I help people set boundaries in line with their values, find greater safety with themselves and others, and practice new ways of communicating, connecting, and coping that lead to greater fulfillment. I often weave in elements from many different theories and modalities, as I believe there are valuable insights and strategies that can be found in a variety of frameworks. I draw on and use resources from the following:
● IFS (Internal Family Systems) or parts-based frameworks● CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)● DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)● Narrative therapy ● Motivational Interviewing● Psychodynamic Theory● Attachment Theory● Mindfulness-based practices● Somatic interventions● Trauma-informed care

EMDR

EMDR is a well-researched evidenced-based therapy that is one of the most effective ways to process and resolve past trauma. While EMDR originally was used to address acute traumatic events, it is now widely used for complex trauma, as well as to resolve experiences connected to anxiety, depression, shame, and many other concerns. I often tell people that EMDR can be useful for processing any negative or distressing experiences that have left some unwanted residue in our lives. Below are some examples of what EMDR has helped my clients address:
● Abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, verbal)● Neglect● Relational wounds/patterns● Anxiety● Panic● Phobias● Depression● Shame● Loss● Religious/spiritual harm● Fear of conflict● Low self-esteem● Trouble speaking up for themselves

Couples Therapy

My approach to couples therapy is informed by attachment theory, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and psychodynamic frameworks. I believe that earlier formative relationships in our lives often serve as a blueprint for how we believe relationships should work. Our significant relational experiences embed in us a sense of how to stay close to others and what will cause conflict or separation. We often act out patterns that once may have been helpful to us, but that are now inhibiting us from experiencing the kind of connection we truly want. Together, we can explore the dynamics in your relationship that are leading to increased challenges and disconnection, and learn how to develop new approaches that help you experience greater intimacy and growth.

LGBTQ+ Support

As a queer person myself, I bring a unique awareness of and compassion for many of the issues that LGBTQ+ folks face. I am welcoming and affirming of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures. I believe it is important to have a safe and strong space to explore and express who you are, free from any unhelpful preconceived notions, stereotypes, and expectations. I am passionate about working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples as they seek to:
● Heal from familial, religious, or social wounds and oppression● Find effective ways of coping with ongoing interpersonal, social, and political stress● Establish effective and fulfilling ways to communicate and connect within their close relationships● Explore what they want their lives and relationships to look like, on their own terms
I am able to provide WPATH letters for established clients who are seeking gender-affirming medical care.
